Documenting the
female surfing experience.
“The Women and the Waves” is a documentary surf
film that explores the lives of female surfers who, through the decades, have
chosen to paddle head first into the male dominated sport of surfing and found
a place of their own. Surfer girls, women who surf, women who don’t, female
athletes, and the men who love them gain insight into what it’s like to “Surf
like a Girl!” This inspiring film, featuring generations of women
surfers, reveals what has. transcended surfing’s status as a sport to become a
passion so strong, it is the dominant force in their lives.

Testimonials:
".. thoughtful and provocative." Gerry Lopez
"A picture capturing the hearts and souls of true women of the ocean
and surfing world."
Marge Calhoun
"This movie is the best I've ever seen as far as capturing what it
really feels like to be a female surfer. This isn't Roxy glitter
or angry feminists complaining about getting the short straw.
This is real. It's
awesome."
Holly Beck
"..Not focused on logos, it serves as a well-rounded, indie account
of the estrogen-filled side of the
sport."

Gravity Magazine Review/August 2010
"We found the film both engaging and inspiring.......It is
a moving, yet buoyant, portrait of female surfers and the waves they ride–then
and now."

SurfTalk.co.uk Review, June
2010
"Sitting on the other side of the gender
divide... My fear was that this could be code for bikini burning feminists
indulging in some "man-bashing". The reality couldn't have been further from
the truth. "
